This artifact meets NETS-T 3: Model Digital Age Work and Learning
The article I choose was “Grow Your Personal Learning
Network,” written by David Warlick. The
article discusses the multiple types of Personal Learning Networks available
especially with the growing technology. According to Warlick there are there
different outlets available. The first is the personally maintained synchronous
connections. This includes the personal people and places regularly use. With
the new outlets such as Skype and uStream it allows people to break the
geographic boundaries that limit their network. The next type is the personally
and socially maintained semi-synchronous connections. This is a new type of social outlet. Unlike
the first type this one will be sent out to groups that share similar interests
oneself. The major difference is that
this one is not maintained in real time.
The final type is Dynamically maintained asynchronous connections. This
allows us to search major engines that are relevant to the subject. It also allows
the user to monitor the source engine periodically for new information.
